Hi

Some websites on the internet offer free sms to mobile subscribers. How are they able to do this? And how do they prevent spamming, or distinguish it from a user who frequently uses the service to message various recepients?

They are probably hacking some service or have friends in big sms-related companies. Perhaps they allow them to send those sms-messages.

Anyway, SMS is not a free service, so don’t try to find a way to send free sms because almost any way you’ll find is illegal and/or difficult to achieve.

Don’t worry about spam. Spam is bulk SMS. In the past these messages where sent through free SMS-gateways. Most of them are now closed, so spammers need to pay for their messages now. And (especially Dutch) people don’t like to pay.

Other networks provide public email to SMS and web facilities to send messages to their subscribers.. (some of these reverse bill the recipient!) so to avoid charging the recipient for unsolicited content, many of these systems use clever spam detection software that searches for attack patterns/rates and keywords etc, blocking all non-desired content.

Here’s a website which provides free sms. It’s an Indian website called 160by2.com. It allows a user to send free 50 message to user and 5 to one particular number. The website allows you to send a message no longer then 80 characters. The default length is 160 characters, so the other 80 characters are probably used for advertisements.

herbert is correct.

because theres no such thing as free sms your best bet would be to go with an ad supported service if you where looking for something free for the sender and the recipient.

try a well established service like peekamo.com

1 way to offer free web 2 sms is it's being provided by the service provider like in our country mobilink provides free web2sms chat but it requires authentication on mobile user end.

I have a website that allows visitors to send free text to cellphone messages. I never use or give away the email messages or cellphone numbers that are entered through my site.

I have set a limit of 10 messages per day on my site that is done through the script that I am using. This prevents abuse of my free service.

Here is the website address if you would like to check it out :
