It depends,
When sending the message from your phone to the provider through the GSM network, the messsage is encrypted.
When you are sending messages using the SMPP or HTTP/SOAP/XML protocols, the messages are send in plain text.
Even when you use your phone to send SMS, it can be routed as plain text between SMS centers. |
